A few years ago in Chicago, I went looking for a tutor for my own child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I expected it to be hard to afford. I didn’t expect it to be a lottery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The market is built on hours, not outcomes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Every service I found sold the same unit: time. Book ten hours. Book twenty. Nobody could tell me what would happen inside those hours, or whether the person on the other end understood how my kid actually learns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You pay first. You find out later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I asked 100+ people what was actually going wrong<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Students. Teachers. Academics. Schools across three continents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I expected a range of answers. I got one answer, over and over, in slightly different words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem was almost never effort.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These were kids putting in the hours. Sitting down. Doing the work. And moving slowly anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reason was simpler and more fixable than anyone was treating it. Nobody had told them what to fix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happens when you don’t know where the gaps are<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You study everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evenly. Responsibly. Chapter one through chapter twenty, the same attention to each. It feels like the diligent thing to do \u2014 and it’s why a student can put in forty hours and barely move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of that time goes to material they had already mastered. The three or four things actually costing them points get the same slice as everything else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find the gaps first. Then bring in a human.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

That’s the whole design of NoteSight, and it’s not complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A diagnostic runs across 47 data points and ranks them by one thing: how many points this specific gap is costing this specific student. That ranked list is the Blueprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then a tutor \u2014 someone who scored in the 99th percentile on that test, or who actively grades it, or who has taught the subject for six-plus years \u2014 reads the Blueprint before they ever meet the student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So the first session doesn’t start with an interview. It starts on the actual problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
